⚾ PANAMERICAN INDEPENDENT BASEBALL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES 2027 SEASON IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 🇩🇴
Following a successful 2026 cycle in which MULTIPLE players earned opportunities to continue their careers in leagues in Mexico, Japan, and the United States, the Panamerican Independent Baseball League is opening international player registration for January 2027.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — The Panamerican Independent Baseball League (PIBL) has officially announced its 2027 Season, scheduled to take place in the Dominican Republic in January 2027, once again opening its doors to players seeking an opportunity to continue their baseball careers.
For the upcoming season, registration will have a truly international focus. The organization is inviting baseball players from any country in the world who are interested in traveling to the Dominican Republic to compete, develop, and showcase their abilities in a multicultural baseball environment.
The 2026 season demonstrated the international reach of the project. Players from different parts of the world participated, including athletes from Japan, Cuba, Australia, and Venezuela, in addition to players from the Dominican Republic and other countries.
For 2027, the organization intends to expand that international presence even further.
🌎 A LEAGUE OPEN TO GLOBAL TALENT
The Panamerican Independent Baseball League is not limited to players from any particular country or region.
Players from Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, and anywhere else in the world are welcome to apply, provided they meet the applicable immigration requirements and possess the documentation necessary to legally enter the Dominican Republic.
Each player is responsible for verifying and obtaining, when applicable, the necessary passport, visa, and any other immigration documentation required to enter the country.
The league's goal is to once again make the Dominican Republic — one of the world's most important centers for baseball talent and development — a meeting point for players from different countries, cultures, and baseball systems who share one objective:
To keep playing and earn another opportunity.
⚾ MULTIPLE PLAYERS FROM THE 2026 CYCLE CONTINUED THEIR CAREERS
The announcement of the new season follows significant results from the league's 2026 cycle.
Four players who participated in the 2026 cycle earned opportunities to continue their baseball careers in leagues in Mexico, Japan, and the United States.
For the organization, those results represent the purpose behind the project. The goal of the Panamerican Independent Baseball League is not simply to organize baseball games, but to provide a competitive environment where players can return to the field, produce recent game footage, be evaluated, continue developing, and potentially open new doors within the game.
Many participants arrive after being released by professional organizations. Others may not have received a signing opportunity through the traditional scouting process, while some come from college baseball, independent leagues, or international baseball systems.
The organization's philosophy is that being released, getting older, or not receiving an opportunity earlier does not necessarily mean that a player's baseball career is over.
🇩🇴 THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC BECOMES THE STAGE AGAIN
In January 2027, selected players will have the opportunity to share the field with athletes from different countries, cultures, and baseball development systems.
Registration will be open to free agents, players released by professional organizations, independent players, eligible college players, and other baseball talent looking for a platform to continue developing and competing.
Orlando Y. Meléndez Miranda, Commissioner of the Panamerican Independent Baseball League, emphasized the international vision behind the upcoming season:
“In 2026, we welcomed players from Japan, Cuba, Australia, Venezuela, and other countries to compete together in the Dominican Republic. Four players from our cycle also earned new opportunities in Mexico, Japan, and the United States. In 2027, we want to open those doors even wider. It doesn't matter where a player comes from. If he can legally enter the Dominican Republic and is ready to compete, he can apply for the opportunity to participate,” said Orlando Y. Meléndez Miranda, Commissioner of the Panamerican Independent Baseball League.
